Khairathi Bhat Group

In the heart of the Thar desert, in a honey coloured city taken from “The Thousand and One Nights”, Jasalmer (Rajastan), we find the Kalakar Colony, where a group of pupeteers from the Bhatt community live. Formed by fifteen families who represent and are heirs of the ancient tradition of puppet performers (200 BC).
From all the different types of Indian traditional puppetry,the most renowned are those from the state of Rajastan, where these families make and perform their marionette shows.
